These are used in pad printing to obtain cliches with screened etching, in steel as well as in photopolymer. To reduce start-up time to a minimum, in particular in open systems, screens keep the layer of ink uniform all along the engraving. If a full print is required, they also make it possible to avoid the use of hard blades, which are difficult to adjust.

When making a screened cliche, the depth of the etching (and therefore the amount of ink required for the printing) is determined by the dimensions of the dots and the lines on the screens, according to the desired result. TAMPOSCREEN's experience suggests the use of dots screen with 150, 120 y 100 DPI (Dots per inch).
